Our Story: A Legacy of Excellence, Craftsmanship, and Passion

At Bespoke Brilliant, we believe that jewelry is more than just adornment—it’s a symbol, a story, and a lasting testament to moments that define our lives. For me, Nguon Y Tan, and my husband, jewelry is a way of life, a journey that began long before Bespoke Brilliant was born.

I grew up immersed in the art and science of jewelry-making, breathing in the craft since the early 1990s. My father, Sovann Or, was one of the most respected goldsmiths in Phnom Penh, the capital city of the Kingdom of Cambodia. He was a visionary, always seeking out the most challenging and advanced techniques in jewelry manufacturing to elevate the craft in Cambodia. He was the first to introduce state-of-the-art jewelry-making equipment in the country, a true pioneer who believed that mastering the hardest projects made everything else easier.

My father's dedication to perfection was instilled in me from a young age. As a third-generation jeweler, I carry forward not only the skills but also the values of excellence, creativity, and customer care. My grandfather was a jeweler before my father, starting his journey in the 1960s until the Khmer Rouge era interrupted his life. My family's resilience and dedication to the craft have shaped who I am today.

After migrating to the USA in 2004, I initially pursued a degree in biology, driven by a desire to help people. However, my passion for jewelry pulled me back into the family tradition, but in a new way—by helping people tell their stories through the jewelry they wear. With over a decade of experience working at my father’s store and with Diamonds of Palo Alto, I’ve had the privilege of guiding countless customers through the process of creating meaningful jewelry—from engagement rings and wedding bands to personalized pieces that reflect their stories.

I learned MATRIX 3D Jewelry Design & Engineering through original training videos, giving me the technical expertise to design intricate, durable, and beautiful pieces. Working side-by-side with my father, I received direct feedback from a master goldsmith on how to perfect every curve, every detail, every piece. Over the years, I have combined my artistic abilities with technical skill, ensuring that each piece I create is not just beautiful, but also built to last.

Bespoke Brilliant was born out of a shared vision between my husband and me. My husband’s journey is a remarkable one as well. Our marriage was arranged by his uncle, a close friend of my father. Though he initially worked in brick manufacturing after spending years helping in his family's jewelry store in Cambodia, he moved to the USA to start a family with me and later apprenticed under my father. Over the years, my husband mastered the art of jewelry casting, 3D printing, and diamond setting under my father’s meticulous guidance. Together, we complete the jewelry-making cycle, bringing generations of expertise to every piece we create.

Our hands-on experience in every step of the jewelry-making process—from design to casting, setting, and quality control—gives us a unique perspective that many modern jewelers lack. We don’t just sell jewelry; we craft it from scratch with passion, precision, and dedication to quality. We’ve witnessed the industry shift, with many online jewelry stores being driven by sales and marketing, but lacking the depth of knowledge and skill required to ensure high-quality craftsmanship. Unlike these companies, we personally oversee every aspect of production, from design to final inspection, ensuring that every piece meets the highest standards of durability, beauty, and meaning.

For us, jewelry is a personal affair. It’s not just about the aesthetic design or craftsmanship; it’s about the story behind it. We want the jewelry we create to resonate with the person who wears it, to symbolize their journey, their love, and their memories. Each piece we create is a work of art, but more than that, it’s a legacy—something that carries meaning for generations to come.
